We have an immediate opening for a Human Resources Manager at our Seadrift, Texas location.

The primary responsibility of this position is to manage all HR generalist activities at the Seadrift facility including: records maintenance, worker’s comp, hiring, orientation, benefits, investigations, training, site meetings, site communications, etc. Guide cultural change through training at all levels, counseling, and specific supervisory development. Recognize people related needs in staffing and training with a proactive vs. reactive attitude. Cultivate relationships with employees that cause them to view the HR Manager as an advocate and sounding board to be utilized when necessary.

  • Provide managerial support to the General Manager and his staff in issues relating to Human Resources, including Facility Services, Training and Development, Recruitment, Benefits and Salary Administration, Community Relations, union avoidance, etc.
  • Manage the plant’s recruiting activities to optimize staffing of all plant positions.
  • Administer the plant’s salary, benefits and other compensation programs to conform with corporate policies and to promote positive employee relations. 
  • Provide leadership for the administration of performance management, including position descriptions, performance appraisal and counseling, evaluation of training and development needs and development plans. 
  • Oversee the payroll function, including the biweekly timekeeping and payroll entry, to ensure correct pay for all employees and compliance will all laws. 
  • Plan and implement special events and employee activities. 
  • Periodically review the plant‘s personnel policy manual; suggest and make revisions as necessary. 
  • Serve as principal contact with community, civic and business organizations to foster a positive corporate image for the plant. 
  • Administer the plant’s Drug Free Workplace Program. 
  • Ensure the plant’s compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations. 
  • Serve as an advocate and representative of employees and dependents in any disputes or concerns relating to salaries, benefits, or other policies.

A qualified candidate for this position will have a minimum of a BA or BS Degree, preferably in Human Resources Management, Employee Relations or a related area. A degree in another field may be acceptable if the candidate has experience beyond the required minimum. A Masters degree and at least 5 years as an H.R. generalist in a union-free chemical, petrochemical or refining plant, or other industrial setting is preferred. Leadership in areas of Health and Safety/Loss Control is a plus.
