GrafTech International Holdings, Inc. is a global company with over 100 years of experience in the carbon and graphite industry. We manufacture and provide high-quality natural and synthetic graphite and carbon products and services. Our Columbia, Tennessee facility has an immediate opening for a Production Manager.

The primary function of this position is to provide leadership and strategic alignment to the manufacturing facility, direct the overall operational activities of the facility, and optimize resource utilization and capital assets to contribute to overall global business profitability of the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations while upholding the highest safety and health standards for protecting people and the environment. 
  • Ensures operational excellence and is accountable for improvements in cycle time, quality, efficiency and cost. 
  • Responsible for all day-to-day operational issues. 
  • Monitors the financial standing of the site, from minor expenditures to maintenance and capital spending. 
  • Responsible for meeting the plant's spending budget and for forecasting future needs. 
  • Promotes positive relationship with union. 
  • Participates in union contract negotiations. 
  • Ensures business integrity and ethics. 
  • Supports customer and investor relations through interaction, facility tours, and meetings. 
  • Develops competencies of direct reports. 
  • Leverages the talent and unique contributions of every individual to increase the effectiveness of the site. 
  • Prepares and presents material in the form of charts, graphs, and written material to plant employees, site management teams, senior managers, customers, and vendors. 
  • Little travel required.

Qualifications:

  • College Degree and minimum 10 years experience in management, or sufficient formal education combined with extensive plant knowledge, process knowledge, and management experience required. 
  • Must possess extensive knowledge in plant processes, quality standards and procedures, HS&EP regulations, team building, and maintenance and engineering procedures. 
  • Must have extensive knowledge in continuous improvement concepts, communication skills, coaching, counseling, managerial and supervisory skills. 
  • Moderate knowledge required in purchasing, human resources, and inventory systems.
